To promote the international exchange of innovative green ideas in the field of sustainability, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) organized the "Green Talents - International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development" every year from 2009 to 2022. Young researchers from many different countries and scientific disciplines were honored for their achievements and their efforts to make their communities, their countries and their societies more sustainable. The awardees were given a unique opportunity to meet and interact with some of Germany's leading scientists, and an extensive network was established.
