Omidreza Heydaritafreshi

Omidreza Heydaritafreshi’s research focuses on electricity markets in renewable-rich power systems and the integration of flexible loads to mitigate the uncertainties caused by variable renewable energy sources (RESs). By utilizing advanced optimization techniques, he develops frameworks that improve both the operation and economic efficiency of modern power grids.

Having earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Sharif University of Technology, Iran’s best university, Omidreza ranked first nationwide in the M.Sc. entrance exam and among his peers during his studies. Now a first-year PhD student, he aims to pave the way for a higher share of renewable energy sources in future power systems.

He has published his findings in several peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, proposing novel optimization methods and frameworks for flexibility provision to enhance the operation of renewable-rich electric power grids. His current doctoral research delves into innovative electricity market designs and structures that strengthen both grid operation and renewable energy participation, a direction he will continue during his research stay at TUHH.

Omidreza’s research supports Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action) by advancing adaptive and resilient energy systems that accelerate the global transition toward clean and sustainable power.
